Vehicle Preview: 2013 Chevrolet Spark

An all-new, stylish, sporty and value packed mini-car that lives for the city.

As the first mini car for Chevrolet in the United States, the all-new Chevrolet Spark delivers an unmatched mix of safety, style and technology wrapped up in the practicality of a five-door exterior design that actually looks like a sporty three-door hatchback. The result is a city vehicle that delivers more head-turning looks and interior passenger and cargo space than the Fiat 500, Scion iQ and smart fortwo, for less money than all of them.
Available in LS, 1LT and 2LT trim levels, the 2013 Chevrolet Spark was designed to attract first-time buyers and city dwellers with stylish urban dynamics. By integrating the rear door handles into the C-pillar, Chevy gave the Spark an athletic three-door appearance without sacrificing the utility and convenience of a five-door. With an MSRP of $12,245, the Spark costs $3,020 less than the Scion iQ, $3,255 less than the Fiat 500 and $245 less than the two-passenger smart fortwo, all of which offer only three doors.
Vibrant exterior color options like Salsa, Jalapeno, Denim, Lemonade and Techno Pink grab the attention of all passers-by and match rocker panel moldings and an integrated spoiler over the rear hatch that helps improve fuel economy.
The Spark is powered by an extremely fuel-efficient 1.2-liter Ecotec inline four-cylinder engine with dual-overhead cams and continuously Variable Valve Timing that delivers 84 hp to the front wheels through either a five-speed manual transmission or an available four-speed automatic. The result is a sporty, responsive car that returns 32 mpg city/38 mpg highway with its manual transmission. And unlike the Fiat 500, which requires premium fuel, the Spark runs on regular unleaded.
The Spark is built on a body-frame-integral structure to maximize sporty driving dynamics. With electric power steering and a MacPherson strut front suspension, the Spark delivers tight, responsive handling characteristics that can out-maneuver any other mini car.
The Spark can also out-accommodate any other mini car. Featuring a cabin that comfortably seats four adults, the Spark can also swallow up to 31.2 cubic feet of cargo with the rear seats folded flat. Adding to the comfortable interior is a host of standard features that competitors lack. Standard on every Spark is air conditioning, power windows and 15-inch alloy wheels, and LT models supply the exclusive Chevrolet MyLink® Touch® infotainment system as standard equipment.
As the only car in its segment to offer a seven-inch color touch-screen radio that integrates smartphone-based music, videos, photos and contacts for hands-free calling, the Spark delivers in-vehicle connectivity unlike any other. MyLink integrates a six-speaker AM/FM/SiriusXM Satellite Radio sound system with Bluetooth voice recognition and audio streaming for web-based apps like Pandora and Stitcher internet radio. Not only does MyLink deliver hands-free calling through Bluetooth, it also can project video via USB through the seven-inch LCD touch-screen when the vehicle is in park.
For even more mobile connectivity, a smartphone navigation application will have later availability, featuring thousands of points of interest, live traffic functionality and local smartphone storage of navigation maps when cell signals are weak – a feature most GPS-enabled systems don’t offer.
Built from the ground up with safety in mind, the 2013 Chevy Spark offers a long list of standard and available safety features to protect its occupants as well as any larger vehicle can. Featuring a 60-percent high-strength steel structure, the Spark absorbs impact energy to better protect its occupants. With standard features like StabiliTrak Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control, Hill Start Assist, Antilock Braking System (ABS) and 10 standard airbags, it’s no wonder that the Spark has already won awards in Europe and Korea for its outstanding safety performance.
Another essential feature found only on the Spark is the popular OnStar system. Offering a complimentary six months of OnStar Directions and Connections®, the 2013 Spark delivers connected safety, security and mobility that no other mini car can. Using the new OnStar RemoteLink Mobile App, smartphone users can remotely lock and unlock doors, start the car (if equipped with remote start), access vehicle information and track the location of their Spark at all times.
The 2013 Chevrolet Spark is small in exterior dimensions, but its stylish design, interior space, advanced technology and award-winning safety make it an enormous value. Whether you’re a first-time buyer seeking an affordable set of wheels or a city dweller looking for a nimble runabout, visit our showroom today and get in the driver’s seat of the irresistible 2013 Chevrolet Spark.
