  1. I have a 2008 Chevy Impala ltz I put air in the tires to specs. But the right side does not read the same. How do I change that so they read the same
Also when I shut the car off the fluid in my reservoir is boiling. What could cause that or be the problem

    1. Hey William! The issue with your coolant is something a little more difficult to decipher. Its possible that the radiator could be burping off some extra air. However, if it is in fact boiling your engine may be close to over heating and there may be a larger underlying issue. This is something I would recommend having someone take a look at for you.

  2. I have a 2008 Chevy Impala ltz I put air in the tires to specs. But the right side does not read the same. How do I change that so they read the same

    1. Hi, William! Thank you for the question. It sounds to me that you have an issue with your Tire Pressure Monitoring System. if you are positive that the PSI in the tires match then this is probably the issue. Let me know if this is something you would like schedule so we can take a look at it!

    1. Hello,
After speaking to the Jack Maxton Service team, we think it’s a possibility your Aveo has a melted wire to the blower motor, or a blown fuse for some reason. We would have to see the vehicle to be a 100% sure.

Could it be the multifunction switch n

    1. Hello Bobbie,

  7. I changed the motor in a 2006 Chevy Cobalt 2.2 ltr does the motor have to be synced with the ignition key? Motor rotates but turns over slow, it’s getting fuel, heard the motor pop a couple times so sounds like getting spark, any ideas? And does this car have an imobilizer?

    1. Hello Don,
Thank you for reaching out to the Jack Maxton Service Team! The car does not need reprogrammed after the new engine is put in, as it is the same cylinder…no immobilizer on the car either. Sounds like it may be something electrical not hooked up properly. If you would like to schedule an appointment for one of our Service Technicians to look at it, let us know.

  14. If you replace the rack and pinion unit on a 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 + most of the components for steering on the driver’s front left should you replace the power steering sensor. I now have very stiff steering and the RPMs have dropped about 400 RPMs at an idle the steering is extremely stiff and it will even stop the motor if making a tight u-turn or any tight turns to the left

  15. I have a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze with roughly 68k miles on it. I have been noticing a burning coolant smell and a significant loss of coolant from the reservoir, but no noticeable leak on the ground or under the hood. The check engine light will come on when I’m running the heat for a long period of time and the airflow is selected for my feet. Any ideas where I should start with repairs?

    1. Hello,

Replaced top motor mount and tranny mount looks good but might not be i dont really know. What might cause this? Oh and it only hapoens after van is warm…first 15 mikes or so it is smooth but once warmed up it acts up…

  17. I have a 2008 Chevy Uplander, I noticed that the driver side front speaker did not work since I purchased the vehicle. I removed the door panel and realized that the speaker was not plugged in. I plugged the speaker in, soon as I put the car in drive I get a continuous chiming alarm sound as if a door is ajar however no door is ajar. the sound will not go away no matter what I do. what can I do to remove this torturous chiming sound?

    1. Hello,
Thank you so much for the question. The alarm comes through the speaker. It sounds like the sliding door contacts may need cleaned. The sliding door thinks it is open all the time… causing the chime. We hope this information helps!

    1. Hello,

  27. I have a 2008 Impala police addition that has developed a death wobble feeling whenever you accelerate. The wobble completely stops when you let off the gas. It did have a slight vibration between 40-45 mph before it started this. The wobble starts around 20 mph and is continuous until you let off the gas. You can’t feel it in the steering wheel, but it feels like the tires are warped. (If that makes any sense) We have checked the tires, CV joints and brakes. Can’t figure it out. Do you have any suggestions of what it might be?

    1. Kim,
Thank you for your question! After speaking with the Jack Maxton Service Team we think your issue could be a bad hub bearing or bent wheel. One other conclusion could also be a bad axle. We hope this information helps. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    1. Dawn,
That is a lot of oil to be going through in 2 days. 1 quart every 2,000 miles is normal at that mileage. Do you see any evidence of a leak in your driveway?

  32. Hi I have a 2015 Impala. It seems to loose the ipod after it sits unstarted for a while 2 or 4 hours. I have 2 ipods, sometimes I switch them to get around this problem, but sometimes even that does not work…….

  34. 2013 Impale has 66,000 miles. First sign of noise began around 53,000 miles. The noise sounds like a rubbing or traction control only when turning left reguardless forward or in reverse. This sound only happens first start up of the movement or first left turn out the drive and not any more. No ABS light or traction control indicator come on. It do not happen when rolling straight or right turn.

  39. Hello, changed out the intake exhaust solenoid valve on my 2011 chevy malibu ST. Now I’m getting the exhaust smell back in the car when I start it. It runs great, but smell is iffy?

  40. I recently wrecked my 2005 Chevy Malibu maxx and had my transmission redone and my wheel bearing replaced and temperature gauge replaced. Upon driving it home, it had problems accelerating from a stop and the RPM would rapidly fluctuate while maintaining a constant speed and had check engine light on. When I finally got it home and tried to drive it again, it stalled, leaving my neighborhood . Or showed no traction control light, service engine light, and check engine light. It then would not turn over (start) so I dragged it home. When I cranked it up again, it idled but when I put it in drive and tried to accelerate, it stalled. Can I get some advice as to what I can do?

    1. Hello Brittany,
Thank you for reaching out to us about your service related question. After speaking to our Service Director, our best assumption is this is a computer related issue. Also, when being repaired from the accident, it’s possible something was not hooked up correctly when reassembling. We hope this information helps. 41. Hello,
I just recently installed a starter to my 2006 chevy hhr LS 2.2 went and connected the battery but upon doing so, what sounds like the starter is making a humming noise almost like a vacuum. The keys are not even in the ignition. Just when I reconnect the battery it makes that noise. Any ideas deal what it could be?
Please and thank you for your help.

    1. Hello David,
After speaking to the Service Director, he suggests checking to make sure there are no wires crossed or touching on the starter. Also, make sure wires are properly installed on the starter. The issue could be an ignition switch. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

  42. I just had work done on my transmission on my 2010 Chevy hhr. Since I have gotten my car back, the headlights only work occasionally. The high beams work, but my low beams only worked this morning. Could this be a fuse?

    1. Hello Samantha,
We are sorry to hear you are having these issues. With what you have described, it sounds like possibly a headlight relay or a loose connection under fuse box. We hope this information helps! Please let us know if you have any additional questions or would like to speak to someone directly.

    2. i have a 2007 chev malibu i love chevrolet i drive no other brand vehicle except chevrolet. i have had very limited auto repair problems with chevrolet auto’s. i am having problems with my 2007 chev malibu lt i purchased used in 2007. i have never had problem with a catalytic conveter if i am pronourcing it correct. i replaced the part at the dealer which was expensive 4days after the new part was replaced in addition to replacing the entire emissions syst em the engine light came back on again what is the issue with this vehicle. i am frustrated.

      1. Hello Katrina,
Thank you for your question. Typically, we can give a general diagnosis. In this case, there are so many scenarios that could be causing your issue. We will need to scan the system to see what the codes are in it now to determine the service problem. Please let us know if you would like to speak to someone directly. We would be happy to help!

    1. Hello Brenda,
Without seeing the vehicle and hearing the described sound, it is hard to diagnose. But, from what you have explained it sounds like possibly upper ball joints are bad on your vehicle. If you have any additional details, let us know. We would be happy to help!

I have a 2006 uplander that keeps coding reduced engine power and traction control light comes on. when this happens the vehicle will not hardly drive and I have to pull over and shut it off and then start back up to continue to drive it.. I had both front wheel bearings replaced and was also told it may be a bad body box under the seat or it may need re-booted.. looking for help on this one

    1. Bobbie,
Thank you for the question. Although, we would need to take a look at your vehicle to confirm our suspicions, your vehicle may need a mass air flow sensor. Also, another sensor could have water in it causing the issue at hand. Please let us know if you have any additional questions or would like to speak to someone directly. We would be happy to help!

    1. Hello Adella,

This will make the heater erratic due to not enough coolant in the system. we hope this answer helps! 54. I have a 2005 Uplander with 161,300 miles. The last couple of times I drove it, It was intermittently making a screeching noise and some of the dash lights would blink and the radio cut out. I don’t drive it much as it is my second car. Now when I shift into drive it sounds like gears grinding (screeching) but it will still drive and then screech intermittently, but if I just sit there it sounds horrible. I am scared to drive it to a repair shop. Until it started doing it when I first shift to drive, I didn’t realize it was apparently transmission related.

    1. Mel,
This is a tricky one. Although, we are confident that you have a transmission issue, it sounds like you have other issues causing your vehicle to run roughly. We suggest bringing in your vehicle to run diagnostics. We are sorry that we can’t answer your question with more clarity. If you have any more details; please feel free to reach out to us!

  58. Hi, I have a 2006 Chevy HHR with 186,000. We recently replacedthe front brakes and rotors and tthe front lower control arm. Now, all of a sudden, there is a humming/vibration felt in the gas pedal when you accelerate and continues to vibrate/hum at any speed. When you let off the gas or idle, it stops. We also been having an issue where sometimes when you put the car in reverse, it will not go back and then sort of kicks back. There was also a check engine light on and the code was for an O2 sensor so they reset it and the next day it came back on. Thank you in advance for your help…

    1. Luis,
We have two ideas of what the problem could possibly be.
      1. A bad Motor Mount – causing the engine to vibrate more than usual.
      2. If your engine does not idle normally, that could be a sign your throttle body needs cleaned.

Please let us know if you have any other questions. We would be happy to help!

  59. I have 2004 Chevy Trail Blazer that had a failed A/C fan blower motor resistor assembly (common failure). I replaced the failed blower motor resistor and the now none of the A/C components work. Fuse 39 and 40 in the rear fuse block do not have 12.0 VDC even with the engine running and the control module calling for A/C. Both fuses check good with the DMM. My Chilton Manual indicates that these fuses are “hot in RUN” yet I do not get 12.0 VDC on either side of the fuse while the engine is running and control module making demand. My question is where does the “hot in run” originate. My HVAC control modules is “Manual”. Fuse 39 provides all the 12.0 VDC bias for the solid state relays and Fuse 40 supplies 12.0 VDC to the blower motor relay. I just can not find where F39 and F40 get hot in the run mode. Please help!

    1. Hello,

  60. My daughter has 2010 cobalt. She was riding down road car cut off wouldn’t start again. Next day mechanic said was crank sensor but wen he undid sensor an tried starting fuse blew in fuse box. Now everytime he replaces fuse an tries to crank the fuse keeps blowing. Wat can be causing fuse to blow an car not to start?

    1. Hello Rebecca,
We would definitely need to see your vehicle for a proper diagnoses but, to us it sounds as though there may be a short to ground if the fuse pops that quickly. We hope this information helps! Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    1. Hello Kim,
We appreciate the question. We had a chance to speak to the Service Manager; he would need to run further diagnostics to confirm this answer but he thinks there could be two separate issues.

  63. I have a 2008 chevy aveo , on my way home from work I went to accelerate after stopping at a red light, and the car had no power. I did get it up to speed however, I heard a dragging noise. As I approached the next red light I slowed down just to see if it would happen again and it did. I pulled into a parking lot and waited for a few minutes put it in reverse but it would not move. I had to get a tow truck. It is running however still making the dragging noise. Any answers would be appreciated.

    1. Janice,
Thank you for reaching out to the Jack Maxton Service team! After reviewing your question, our best assumption is that your transmission may be going out on your Aveo. 70. I have a 2010 let 1 v6 camaro that the engine light came on. I took it to have the code read. It came up with the same code 3 times. The code is p0449. The code calls for the evap sol. Sensor so I bought the part put it in and had the clear the code. They were able to clear one of the 3 but two remaining codes of the same 0449 one says it is pending and the other says it is permanent….. So everything is fine until I turn the car off as soon as I start the car again the engine light comes back on and the same 3 codes of 0449 are there again. I have no loss of power and still get great fuel economy but I have swapped this part out 2 times with the same result. Not sure where to go from here. Any help would be appreciated

    1. Robert,
Thank you for the question. There are multiple things that can cause that code to set…the Jack Maxton Chevrolet Service Department will need to smoke test it to pinpoint the exact problem. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

  72. My 2002 Chevy Trailblazer makes a chain dragging noise when i am accelerating. It also make a hard bump or knocking noise when i either hit a bump or when i am turning the wheel as I am backing out of a driveway. The steering is very loose. I have to hold the steering wheel very tight in order for the truck to not sway from side to side. Any suggestions? Thank You!

    1. Shoney,
When it comes to diagnosing the issues you are explaining, there are several separate issues that could be the cause. In a general diagnoses… you have several front-end parts really loose. Drilling down a little further… you could have a loose hub bearing. We hope this helps. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do.

  75. I have a 2012 Chevy impala. The first issue I noticed was that when I go over a rough road, or hit a speed bump, there is a clunk coming from the back right rear area. I had a tire shop look at it, they confirmed everything was tight and nothing was loose. The mechanic said the only thing he could find was a bumper that had some play in it. On that note, after leaving the gym not too long ago, I noticed that my rear end, right above and below the license plates had marks. It was clear that someone had backed into me – a hit and run. There were no other visible marks, aside from what looked like a little dent around the area of the exhaust on the right rear. Nothing shakes or rattles when driving. Simply the clunk that I hear when going slowly over bumps.
I just had three new tires installed yesterday, one being the right rear. The problem still exists.
Another issue that is going is that it seems as though I can feel a slight vibration int the floorboard when I’m driving. It seems like I can also feel it in the gas pedal. This seems to be pretty constant once I hit 25-30 mph. The passenger seat headrest also vibrates – I can feel it with my hand. Although, upon asking the last passenger that sit in about the vibrations, she claimed she felt nothing.
Lastly, I have a check engine light on. I got a p0496 error code. Pretty sure it was the purge valve located near the engine. I ordered one and it just came in. I’ll be having that replaced soon. When stopping at a shop last night, the mechanic removed the engine cover and we could actually hear the purge valve seemingly clicking or making a constant noise.
Would the purge valve make the acceleration of the car a little sluggish?
Thanks in advance for trying to give me some direction with this stuff!

    1. Hello Kristin,
Thank you for the question! The Jack Maxton Service team has a few ideas to what might be going on. The purge valve could be what is causing the issues you are having and can be intermittent. The vibration could be almost anything in the drive-line, though. That is harder to diagnose. As far as the rattle, it could be a loose bumper or a loose rear sway bar link. We hope this helps! Let us know if you have any additional questions.

  76. Hi there,
I pray someone can help me. I have a 2011 Chevy Cruze 2LT. We changed the front and rear brakes five months ago because I started to hear a scrubbing noise. The front brakes are pads and the backs are drums. Since then, the rear brakes are squealing like a pig. Every time I barely press the brake pedal, high pitched squeals come. It is driving me insane. I have searched the internet for months for a possible solution. We have taken them off and verified all was well. I thought they just needed to “seat” at first but darn it has been over five months ago! I read over and over the brakes will automatically seat. What can I do???

    1. Hello Carl,
After speaking with our Service Manager, we think we have a simple solution for you! The rear drums may need turned; if that is the case, the noise will go away. Please let us know if you any additional questions, we would be happy to help.

      Best Regards,
      Jack Maxton Team
      1-877-331-1628

      1. Thank you for responding. The brake drums are brand new (as of five months ago anyway) and the squeals have been there from day one. It does not matter if I lightly touch the brake or not. It squeals. When coming to a stop, other car drivers stare. You can see them tense up if I am behind them and I know they are thinking, “You fool, change your brakes!”.

The brand of drums I used was Raybestos Drum Brake Shoe Professional Grade.

Since the drums have squealed since day one, would you still think they needed to be turned??

      2. You could possibly have a defective set of brake shoes or maybe a piece of the brake hardware is not exactly in the correct place; causing the noise when braking because of rubbing.

  77. My 08 Uplander has no sound when turn signals flash. All bulbs flash, hazard flashes, chime works from Left Front speaker, turn signal “on” too long chime works.
Just no clicky sound when turn signal is on. Is it the electronic flasher and the sound portion of it has failed? I need a new flasher up under dash on left side maybe?

    1. Jim,
Thank you for the question. When it comes to the “clicking” sound you hear when the blinker is on in your Uplander, the sound is actually coming from your radio. This could signify that you have a problem within your speakers. Another cause could be a malfunction in your instrument cluster. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

It’s happening more and more. We had it looked at by a dealer, because no panel instrument symbols light up, they say they can’t detect the problem. The car wouldn’t start on the service personnel also, again we leave the car with them and again, they haven’t found any problems. We are frustrated. AAA technician told us it could be a fuel pump going out (which won’t show on the instrument panel or a loose wire next to the battery compartment connected to the silver box). Is this true a fuel pump problem won’t show on the panel or a faulty wire won’t show on the panel? Have you heard of this happening? Once the car died while we were parking the car, then wouldn’t start for ten minutes. Help?

    1. Carolyn,
Our thoughts are geared towards the fuel pump as well. When the car is in the ‘no start mode’, a fuel pressure check can be done. There will not be a light on the dash indicating a fuel pump problem, making the issue harder to diagnose. Although, everything you have mentioned leads us to believe it’s a fuel pump issue. Please let us know if we can answer any additional questions!

  79. I have a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu with 21,000 miles on it. The issue I am having is when the AC is on and at a stop or idling the AC blows cold air, but when you are driving the air blows hot. Checked the low port line and it is showing the pressure to be between 45-50 psi. Ambient temp was 85. Compressor is working. Any idea what the issue could be? Thanks

    1. Don,
With the information provided, our best diagnostic guess is that you could have a small leak and the system could be a little low on Freon causing the issue. We hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

  80. I have a 2006 Chevy trailblazer.. Started to here a loud grinding metal noise as if something could have also been dragging when the Ac was running.. Nothing is dragging. Have new front and rotators and break pads. When I turned the Ac off the noise seems to disappear. Car drives just fine. What could it be?

  81. I have a 2007 Chevy 1/2 ton 1500 4 door 5.3 I replaced both front rotors and pads and now the message center says to service break system soon, and I don’t know what that means. Can you help me please.

    1. Hello Lawrence,
Our Service Manager suggested that your vehicle could possibly be low on brake fluid below the sensor in the master cylinder. This could cause the light to come on. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. We would be happy to help!

      Thank you,

  82. my land rover refuse to accelerate after it has move for sometime pls what is the cause
    land rover free lander 2003

    1. Henry,
Would you be able to provide us with more information about this issue? There are several things that could cause the acceleration problem and we would like to narrow down some of the solutions for you.

      Thank you,

  83. Ok so what should I look for to determine if it would be the starter or ignition switch the only other thing can say is when I try to turn it on it trys to start you can feel it but doesnt it like shakes a little then it only happens twice a week?

    1. The starter would make a clicking sound and a whining noise. For the ignition switch… if you’re feeling things happen, then your ignition switch is probably fine. Also, you may have carbon buildup and need your throttle body cleaned.

      Best Regards,

  84. So I have a 2004 trailblazer ls ext. Sometimes I go to turn it on and its doesnt it takes about 3 for times and it only does once or twice a week an dc it only does this when I start it up would could it be?

    1. Jose,
The Jack Maxton Service Department has heard of this issue before and in those instances, the problem was the starter or ignition switch. Please let us know if you have any other details. We can then further drill down on what the problem could be. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns, as well!

      1. On the 05 chevy malibu the hummin roarin noise we cldnt figure out after the rack and pinion was put on was a bolt missin the first answer was correct thank u so so much

  85. My 2008 Chevy Malibu LT was driving fine and Monday morning drove off get to the light I stop and waited light turn green and my Car just whinned but I put it in Reverse and I backed up fine a Mechanic came and Diagnostic it and it read it had a Electronic shift Solenoid could that be the problem? And what could have happen? Help!!

    1. Kango,
We’re here to help! After speaking with our Service Manager, we are inline with what your Mechanic said… We think it’s a bad solenoid, as well. It’s hard to say which solenoid exactly. We would have to further diagnose it to exactly determine the correct failure. If you have any other questions, please let us know!

  86. I have a 2005 Chevy Malibu I had a rack and pinion put it Friday then when I drove it home from the shop it’s humming and u can feel a very light vibration it does it every time I push the gas it’s been to three different mechanics no one knows pls help it wasn’t makn this noise before and it’s driving jus fine but making that weird noise

    1. April,
We are sorry to hear you are having these issues. Although, the Jack Maxton Chevrolet Service Team would have to look at the vehicle to 100% diagnose the problem… we do have a suggestion. It could be the mount from where the rack was put in. Maybe have your service shop look at that, again.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

  87. I have a Chevy HHR 2008 with around 75,000 miles on it. Two weeks ago I had an oil change, transmission system flush, and tire sensor replacement…after that my car started going downhill. It started with me noticing it was hard to pull the left turn signal down and was difficult to get it to stay down. I also noted that both left and right turn signals wouldn’t disengage after the turn was completed. When turning (without the signals on) I sometimes hear a click (the sound you hear when a turn signal disengages). After that I noted that my car while driving is making a humming like sound (doesn’t get worse or better with acceleration or deceleration). Kinda feels like the car is stuck in the same gear (automatic transmission). It doesn’t stop there…I noted that on my info screen for my car that it stopped registering coolant temp about 20 minutes after the the A/C stops working in my car. And just now after driving home for my the Malfunction indicator lamp turns on. Please help with suggestions.

    1. Could what I had done maintenance wise for my car two weeks ago have caused this due to them doing something wrong?

      1. Sara,
Thank you for the question! After speaking with the Jack Maxton Service Department, we have a few ideas about the issues you are having on your HHR. First, we think the problems you are having now are completely unrelated to the work you had done a few weeks ago. When you described the issues with your turn signal the Service Department equates that to a possible multi-function switch going bad. Also, it sounds as if the humming noise you hear could be coming from a hub bearing. Lastly, a thermostat issue could be causing the light to come on. Please let us know if we can answer any additional questions!

  88. I’m tearing my hair out on this one. I have (with much sorrow) a 2001 Chev Malibu 3.1 V6. If there’s a more problematic car on the road (don’t even get me started on the faulty anti-theft system and ignition key switch), I won’t believe you… Yes, I’ve already had the motor rebuilt after the head gaskets failed. Prior to and continuing post-rebuild, this car has an odd fault. On left turns (not right turns) and on steep grades, the car will stall. It began whenever the tank was around 1/4 empty, and has progressed to the point where even with half a tank, this happens. I’ve seen other owners of the ’99-’03 Malibu report this, and a replaced fuel pump doesn’t fix it. Any thoughts?

    1. Hello Mark,
We’re sorry to hear about all the problems you are having with your Malibu. We’ve taken the issues explained above to our Service Director and this is what he thinks it could be – The fuel level sender is bad and not reading the proper amount of gas that is actually in the tank. A Chevrolet Malibu Fuel Level Sending Unit sinks as the gas is used by a vehicle due to everyday use. Your Chevrolet Malibu Fuel Level Sending Unit is an electronic sensor that is in your vehicle’s gas tank. The intended function of the Chevrolet Malibu Fuel Level Sending Unit is to establish the volume of gasoline remaining within the vehicle’s gasoline tank. The Chevrolet Malibu Fuel Level Sending Unit was designed with the intent to calculate the amount of fuel within a automobile’s fuel reservoir. An unreliable Chevrolet Malibu Fuel Level Sending Unit will give inaccurate information, and cause the vehicle to run out of fuel. (www.partsgeek.com) We hope this information helps and please let us know if you have any additional questions.

      1. Much appreciated, fellows. If I read you correctly, it’s not an issue of fault in the supply, but I’m actually running out of gas. If this is so, then my Malibu is terribly thirsty. My guage today is reading just over half a tank, and I had symptoms of low supply struggling up the hill to my office. I guess when I fill up tonight, I’ll check the litres to see if my tank is that empty… Cheers!

      2. Mark,
If it is the Fuel Level Sending Unit going bad, you can have gas in your vehicle but the sensor on the sending unit is telling your vehicle that it is out of gas. We just wanted to clarify that.

        Thanks!
        Jack Maxton

  89. I have a 2006 chevy hhr and the left turn signal comes on by “itself” intermittently I tried disconnecting the turn signal lever and I still happens then I disconnected the turn signal lever and the hazard switch, still have the problem only way I have found to turn off the turn signal when this happens is to slap the dash. Any idea what could be making the left turn signal to randomly turn on by itself???

    1. Jeff,
Thank you for the question. The switch could be shorted to ground internally… we need to take the steering wheel apart to verify that is the case. The Jack Maxton Service Team would be more than happy to look at your vehicle. Just let us know if you would like to make an appointment. You can reach the Service Department at 1-877-331-1628 Ext: 2382.

      1. Maybe you didn’t read the summary I left maybe your a typical dealership and don’t listen to their customers?
I plainly stated that I took the turn signal switch the entire switch assembly out of the car and still had the problem of the left turn signal turning on by itself plz take note that when this happend the hazard switch and the switch/lever were both disconnected and out of the car. So it wouldn’t matter if the switch was grounding out because there was “no switch” in the car@$!#/
        follow up note
seems to do it mostly when turning left…???
Not sure if that would matter?
And it is only the left turn signal.
also there are no trouble codes or check engine lights on.
high mileage car if it matters? 300k

  90. We recently bought a used ’07 Uplander, our turn-signals work fine when the headlights are not on, however once they kick on (in auto mode or if you turn them on manually) the signals will not work. The lights on the console still blink but it is rapid as if to tell you a bulb is out, however the bulbs are good since they work when the headlights are not on.

    1. Kirk,
Thank you for the question. After speaking with the Service Manager, he suggested that you may have an issue with the steering column, possibly the turn signal switch assembly. 92. I recently got a 2012 Chevy Cruze LS in January and just came across a few issues lately. My cooling fan doesn’t come on at all, my radio has been going in and out and my power steering went out for a few moments today. What could be the issues to why these items are failing and is it covered under warranty?

    1. Brittnee,
We are so sorry to hear you are having these issues! You purchased a GM Certified vehicle and as long as you are under 41,706 miles, the issues should be covered under warranty. 93. I have a 2010 Chevy colbolt 57000 miles car was whining and shuttering took it to the dealer after 6 hours they said it was the water pump they replace the water pump car always ran at one hundred and eighty degreesnow it fluctuates from 180 to 220headed back to the dealer because there is still a wine they said to let it run and breakthrough for a week or so could you possibly give me any suggestions

    1. Hello Linda!
We do have a couple suggestions to what may be causing the issues in your vehicle. The whining noise could be the transmission or power steering. The temperature could actually be okay if a new thermostat was put in. Please let us know if you have any additional questions!

  94. I have a 2012 Chevy malibu and today it lost power the check engine light the traction control light also came on. I’m a mechanic as well I plugged in my scanner it says that the throttle body is out of sync .it will go to 100 percent when floored but when it is not pushed it still shows it’s at 27 percent. I can push it closed but it moves right back. Should I replace it or is there something else wrong. Any suggestions

    1. Hello Mike,
Thank you for your question. Our suggestion would be to clean the throttle body and do an idle relearn. Of course, to give a definite answer, we need to know what the codes are through our own diagnostics. We hope this helps and please let us know if you have any other questions.

  95. I have a 2012 Chevy Malibu which makes a tweeting/chirping noise when the defroster/heater blower is on. This began only on speed 1 but now occurs on speed 2 and is beginning on speed 3. What could be causing this? It is very distracting to me.

    1. Hello Kim,
There are a couple different issues that we think may be causing the chirping sounds when your heater is on. One could be a piece of debris in the blower making the sound. It could also be the actual bearing in the blower motor going bad. We would be happy to assist you with finding out what the issue is. You can visit the Jack Maxton service page at http://www.jackmaxton.com/service.cfm or call us at 1-877-331-1628.

    2. My 2011 Chevy Equinox is now stalling out,. Started a couple of weeks ago.
Would lose power, Service Traction Control light w/ wrench would come on.
We have been keeping it off and following booklet suggestions. Restarting after 15 seconds etc.. NOW STALLS FREQUENTLY. I KNOW IT COULD BELOTS OF THINGS , BUT SENSOR IS GOING BAD.
What do you suggest? It has been too cold to work on, ourselves. Can I get a quote on replacement? or possibly the throttle body, or pigtail wiring.

      1. Sheila,

We are so sorry to hear that you are having these issues. You are correct when saying there are a lot of things that could be giving you problems. When it comes down to sensors, there are 25 or more sensors that could be causing one issue or another. There is no way for us to give you a quote on that until we run diagnostics on your vehicle. Running diagnostics would cost you $96+ tax. If the throttle body is the issue, the est. would $450+ tax for parts and labor. We’re not sure what you mean by pigtail wiring. The Jack Maxton Service Team would be more than happy to look at your vehicle. Just let us know if you would like to make an appointment. You can reach the Service Department at 1-877-331-1628 Ext: 2382.

  96. 2005 Malibu Maxx. CD player not working, replacing it with same or similar factory radio. Do I need a code for it to work? Ho long does it take to program it and what is an estimate of the cost for programming only

    1. Hello Mike,

We would have to know the part number off of the CD player to know what the cost would be to program. There are several factory style CD players; would you happen to know the part number?

      Thank you,
      The Jack Maxton Team

      1. Not yet we were planning on ordering it tonight. The website has, I think, 5 radio models that are compatible with my Malibu Maxx. I am just looking for a ball park figure to know whether it would be less costly to buy a factory replacement or just have an entirely new aftermarket radio installed

      2. Hello Mike,
A ballpark figure to send the radio out to be refurbished at Jack Maxton Chevrolet would be between $325 and $550+tax. – All depending on the part number.

        Thank you!

  97. Hi I have 2007 uplander and my turn signals and brake lights just stop working periodically and my turn signal indicator on the dash just blinks really fast and then some time if you leave the turn signals on they start working again and so does the brake light if you would have any ideas it sure would be appreciated and in advance thank you for your time

    1. Hello Stephen,
After speaking with a Service Advisor, our best assumption would be that your turn signal switch is faulty. If we took a look at your vehicle in the Jack Maxton Service Department – this would be an estimate of cost…

      Diagnostic fee – $96+tax
If it’s the turn signal switch – $54+tax
      Labor – Approx. $120+tax

Of course, this is all an estimate but, it gives you a ballpark figure on what the service cost may be. If you would like to schedule an appointment for the Jack Maxton Chevrolet Service Department to look at your vehicle please call us at 1-877-331-1628 ext: 2382.

  99. 2008 Chevy Malibu: I’ve had my engine block tested and the transmission coolant lines are leaking. Is this a serious/expensive fix, or could it also me something very simple as a loose clamp/hose?

    1. Hello Alison,
It sounds as though the lines need replaced if they are leaking…the approximate cost is $399 for parts plus the cost of labor. Please let the Jack Maxton Service Department know if you would like to make an appointment to get your vehicle checked out. ā€“ http://www.jackmaxton.com/service.cfm 1-877-331-1628

    1. Hello,
Thank you for the question! We can do a block test on your vehicle to check for a head gasket leak. As far as the power steering leak, we need to look at your vehicle to see where the heavy leak is coming from. The cost to look at both would be $96+ tax. 101. I have a 2009 Equinox that I purchased new from Jack Maxton. I’ve noticed some corrosion to the front passanger door and was wondering a couple of things. 1) I think that there is a warranty for 6 years/100k miles for corrosion; how could I check on that? 2) What kind of repair would be done for the corrosion? Its a small area, maybe the size of a deck of cards. Thanks in advance for the assistance!

    1. Hello,
Thank you for the question! The warranty covers corrosion for the first 3 years. After that, rust-through coverage is for the first 6 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. here is a link for warranty information to your vehicle – http://www.chevrolet.com/owners/warranty.html. The Jack Maxton Body Shop would have to look at the corrosion to see what steps are needed to fix the problem. If you would like to make an appointment to get the spot checked out please call 1-877-331-1628 to set up an appointment. Please let us know if you have any additional questions!

  102. Hi there,

Hopefully you can help. I have a 2008 Uplander and during the day my front and rear signal blinkers work, but at night only my rear ones work. Not sure if it matters but it has just hit over 100k. I bought the van preowned back in February and everything worked fine up till a couple months ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    1. Hello John,
We are really not sure why the blinkers only work during the day. The Jack Maxton Chevrolet Service Department would have to look at the blinkers and try to duplicate the problem. You may have a sensor or a switch going bad. Please let us know if you would like the Jack Maxton Service Department to take a look at your vehicle. 103. Hi,
I have a 2006 Chevrolet hhr lt. I recently noticed the coolant tank was completely empty. How much is it for a coolant service to refill the tank?

    1. Hello Jamie!
First, we have to find out where that coolant went! Did you notice it on the ground or driveway? If not, you need to have a pressure test done on your HHR. At the Jack Maxton Service Department, that would cost $48+tax. We would love to service your vehicle! If you would like, you can call 1-877-331-1628 to schedule an appointment. 104. Hi: I have a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer LTZ. When I turn on the radio there is a rapid knocking noise in the right front speaker door. When I turn the car off without shutting the radio off first, the knocking noise will continue for a some seconds and stop. Sometimes it goes on by itself when I am not in the car or when I open the door it will start knocking without the engine on. I have not brought it to anyone yet for fear of a steep expense. This is a second radio installed a long time ago. Will this be a easy fix or really expensive? Who would be the best place to bring this problem to? Thanks for any help you can give me!

    1. Monika,
Thank you for the question! This does sound like an electrical issue. It will be straight time on the repair, meaning however long we work on it at $96 an hour. Electrical problems are a little harder to diagnose. Please let us know if you have any other questions. We know getting service done can be very stressful.

    1. Hello Billy!

  113. I own a 2010 Camaro. I have not heard from GM concerning the recall of all Camaros. What I understand about the recall is that the ignition may turn off if the key fob comes into contact with the knee. My knee comes nowhere close to the key. Is there more to this recall than this?

    1. Anthony,
The information that was provided to us is there will be a recall on Camaros but, we do not have any information further than that. 116. I am working on a 2008 chevy Cobalt, everything was working fine in it then the radiator was accidentally busted and the engine was destroyed from running without water. Well I have completely rebuilt the engine and reinstalled it and now the starter will not run from the key. I can jump it at the crank relay. All the fuses and relays are good and all other electrical systems seem to be fine. On installation I had a little trouble with the connector for the trans range switch, could it be casing this problem?

  117. So I am replacing the Rack and Pinion for the second time right now. I was going to us Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak as soon as it was done but I heard that you shouldn’t use it if there is no current leak. Is this true? 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LS EXT 6cyl.

    1. Hello Darlene,
There could be 2 different accessory power outlets depending if you have an extended cab or not. The outlet located near the dash would have a fuse located under the fuse block – labeled #23 20A or Cigar. The second outlet located in the rear would be under the fuse block labeled #2 20A or Aux. 118. I replaced the rack and pinion in my 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LS EXT 6cyl. It was good for a week but while inspecting another issue, I turned the AWD on and the seal on the rack broke and is leaking power steering fluid again. Plan was to get a seal repair kit and Lucas Stop Leak. Do you think this is a good plan? Is there a better stop leak out there?

    1. Good Morning!
We find a stop leak will not fix a broken line or hose, for good. If you do try a seal repair kit, Lucas Stop Leak is the best product they make. If it still leaks after awhile, we would have to see your vehicle to check it out. Thanks for the question!

      2. Donna,
We got the second message that you own a 2006 Chevrolet Aveo. We were basing the repair off of the type of vehicle you have. Also, you are very welcome! It’s our pleasure!

I live in NY, And it seems, a woman comes in the shop and they see dollars $$$$ One place said they had to remove the manifold to get at the inlet hose and it would take 4 hours, but the price is mostly labor they said?Ā  Still shopping in NY. I hope it wont take too long it is hard to be with out a car..Again thank you, I hope i find a shop like yours.

  120. I have a 2009 equinox purchased new from jack Maxton. The brake lights do not work. The bulbs ck ok. The brake light bar across the top of tailgate work ok
    Ralph

    1. Ralph,
Thank you for the question! After speaking with the Service Manager we think the problem may be a brake light switch above the brake pedal. You can see your brake light switch by looking under the dash, near the top of the brake pedal. The brake light switch is usually attached to a small bracket that holds the switch, activated when the pedal is depressed, in position.
Once you’ve located the switch, check to make sure that the brake light switch’s electrical connection is firmly attached and that all of the wires connecting to the brake light switch are in good condition (at least as far as you can see from your position). Then check to make sure that the switch isn’t out of position or stuck in the on or off position. Thank you again for reaching out to the Jack Maxton Service Department and let us know if we can help you with anything else! 1-877-331-1628

  121. I will let you know how things turn out. I had someone look at them and they were impressed with the break job. Thank you for everything. You will see me quite a bit from now on..lol.

  122. Thank you so much. I am so glad I found your sight. I have alot of experience with break troubles but there has never been anything like this. So just to make sure, even thou I had brand new Calipers, Rotors and Break pads put on just two weeks ago, they could have been done incorrectly and actually could be on their way to going bad again? That would be a surprise because the person who did them always has and has his own mechanic business. Thank you so much. I will check on this today.

    1. Mzladyxxx,
We do not think the parts are going bad again – just could have been put on incorrectly or one of the reasons listed in the prior answer. When you go into get everything checked today, you may want to ask them how the quality is of the new brakes and pads, also. Let us know what what the outcome is!

  123. Thank you for the quick response. I just want to double check that there is no air coming out of the chest/face vents ever. The air flows fine from the dash/windshield defrost vents and the floor board vents and the light indicating that the A/C is on most all of the time when I turned the head on. Do you still think it is that door you mentioned?

    1. Without seeing the vehicle and diagnosing it – the bad mode door actuator would be our best conclusion. Thanks again for using the forum! We hope all service goes smoothly for you!

  124. When I originally purchased my 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LS EXT, the air vents that are to hit you chest and face area were not working. Sounded like no biggie. Possibly just a block in a hose or something. I had a dealership just take a quick look for an opinion and they said something about that it is not switching from A/C over to heat. They said it was some type of switch hidden behind the dash was probably needing replacement. Does that sound familiar at all and could you tell me the correct name of the part so I can arrange the repair? Summer is coming so need to get that working.

    1. Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having several issues with your 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. We have suggestions that may help point you in the right direction. For the air vent issue we think it could be a bad mode door actuator. It actually works like a door, which serves as an entry or exit passage for hot air when it is not needed in the system. When this doorway is blocked or totally broken, you’ll know it because you’ll feel it. It’s either you’ll be all sweaty because of too much heat or shivery because it’s cold. You can stop this from happening by changing the broken door actuator. 125. I had the key fobs programmed for my 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LS EXT before by a dealership that has been very helpful in the past. I needed the fobs programmed again but I went to a Chevrolet dealership I was not familiar with. I noticed them some how connect a box looking device inside of my car. It did program the fobs but ever since then, the horn does not work, when securing and locking my TrailBlazer, there is no beep beep noise indicating that the vehicle is locked and secured. Only the front and back lights blink. Also, when I hit the orange button on the fob to trip the alarm, there is no noise. Just the blinking lights. I was told by the original dealership that I used before and they said it had something to do with the personal preferences and they must have been reset. Any ideas if that sounds right or how I would set the personal preferences back to how they were?

    1. Mzladyxxx,
For key fob issue on your 2004 TrailBlazer we suggest getting all of your key fobs reprogrammed. This could eliminate the inconsistency with flashing lights and no beeping sound. Take all key fobs back to the dealership so that all the reprogramming can happen at the same time. Please let the Jack Maxton Service Department know if you would like to make an appointment to get your key fobs reprogrammed. ā€“ http://www.jackmaxton.com/service.cfm 1-877-331-1628

      Thank you,

      1. Thank you for replying and each time I have had to do the Key Fobs I made sure I had each one and all programmed at the same time. The only difference I noticed was that strange box used at the one dealership. I will make an appointment.

  126. I have a 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LS EXT and I love it. I have owned it for less then a year. About 2 weeks ago I had a full replacement done on my breaks including Calipers, Rotors and Pads. The breaks got pretty noisy before they were repaired. On top of the grinding noise, there was a irritating metal on metal sound. I had the full break replacement done but was unhappy to still hear that metal on metal sound. It was not a grinding sound. Its a metal in metal rubbing sound. Its is only really bad at higher speeds. Just after hitting 20 mph and after 30 mph. The brakes were replaced by my uncle who has been a mechanic for years and was always the one who ended up doing any repairs in the past. I have an EX boyfriend who is not a working mechanic but really should be. He has saved me in a lot of hard times. I had him go for a drive for me to listen to the sound. After he drove with me, he said that something was rubbing but needed to get under there to see what it is rubbing. When he was able to take the tires off, he said he could see any signs of rubbing. He suggested that since I had a complete Brake Replacement, that I should give it about a week for the new break parts to settle. It has now been 2 weeks and is driving me bonkers!! To me, with my break experience as a kids and riding the brakes till I had to pull the emergency brake to stop, which I no longer do, it sounds like the brake pads are some how possibly sticking to the rotor but that’s what I think it sounds like. My EX suggested lubing the brakes which I know my uncle did when replacing the brakes but is it possible that they need more? Please help me get rid of this ugly noise that makes my TrailBlazer look horrible.

    1. Mzladyxxx,

Lastly, the horrible brake sounds you are hearing! There are several different reasons the brakes are still making noise after replacement.

The pads are new ā€“ When your brake pads are new they need a little bit of wearing in so they can function normally. This is commonly referred to as bedding in. Itā€™s kind of like getting a new pair of sneakers, at first they are a little bit uncomfortable, but with constant wearing in the next few days they loosen up.

Rust or debris ā€“ If there was some dirt or rust on the rotors while you changed the pads, the pads might be grinding because of that, so in that case you should change the rotors, have them machined, or better yet, take your car to a mechanic.

The calipers were not positioned correctly while changing the pads ā€“ In this case the caliper can drag itself on the rotor causing a grinding noise and damaging itself. In this case you should remove your wheels (first the front, then the back) and feel the entire brake assembly to see if anything feels loose. If it feels solid, spin the rotor (with the wheel still off) and listen to it. If there isnā€™t any noise, repeat that with the remaining wheels to track down the caliper at fault.

The shims are not lubed enough ā€“ If thereā€™s not enough lube between the shim and the caliper, the brake will make a whine or a squeak sound (maybe sometimes even a grinding sound). You can resolve this matter with applying a bit of silicone lube between the shim and the caliper.

The rotors are worn ā€“ If you install new pads on worn rotors they will make a grinding noise because the new pads need a smooth surface to rub against or otherwise it will come to shortening the life of your brake pads. This is resolved with buying new rotors.

    1. Hello,
If your 2008 Colbalt has a 2.4 engine in it try disconnecting the battery for 3-5 minutes and then reconnect. Start the car without touching the gas and let it idle for 3-4 minutes to relearn the idle. Let us know if that works for you! 128. I have a 2008 HHR LT 2.4L engine. Service engine light came on. It was determined I needed to change my cam shaft sensor, so I did. Light still stayed on and I was told that I would need to drive it about 100 miles so it could reset. I have and light is still on. What do I need to do now?

    1. David,
After speaking with the Service Manager, he has determined that your HHR would need to be scanned to see why the light is on. It could be several different issues and it’s hard to just pinpoint one without scanning it first. 1. Hello Harold,

  133. Also it has a delay when I start it or just won’t start it tries but feels like not enough power to keep it going so I push the gas to rev it and it does fine it didn’t start this till a couple of days ago

    1. Britny,
We are so sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Uplander. After speaking with the Service Manager we think that you have 2 sets of issues. One being a fuel pump problem. Fuel pumps send gas to your engine and when having to rev up the vehicle you are pushing extra gas to the engine. This could be one reason you smell the extra gas for a period of time. The other issue sounds like it is electrical. We highly suggest you calling the dealership you purchased the vehicle from to get these issues looked at right away. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns we can help you with. You can also reach Jack Maxton Chevrolet at 1-877-331-1628.

    1. Hello Macho,
When replacing the transmission in a 2008 Chevrolet Uplander, you do not have to remove the engine. Supporting the engine with an engine hoist will work. 1. Hello Tabitha,
After speaking with a Service Technician, we think the problem is low fuel flow. This could be from clogged fuel injectors. 138. i recently purchased a 2007 i recently purchased a 2007 hhr after a month it has started making a loud squeeling noise when i turn left but that only starts after about 5 min. of driving it sounds like it is comming from the left front tire area

    1. Hello Jerry,
Thank you for the question. When hearing a squealing noise there are so many things that could be causing the problem. We spoke to one of our HHR experts and he said it could be as simple as a tire rubbing when going into a turn or brakes squealing after driving the car for a little while. This is an issue that we would have to drive ourselves to come up with a solid conclusion. Have you recently had the brakes replaced?

  140. I have a 1999 Chevy Malibu I jus purchased a month ago and now noticing my coolant is disappearing but there no coolant leaking but how ever notice a wet substance by the water pump. How can I k no if I need to replace a gasket or my water pump is just bad? The car has never over heated but will sometimes go above normal. when that happens I check my coolant in the overflow and it’s empty…

    1. Hello Janay,
We are sorry to hear about your recent issues with your Malibu. The best advice that we can give is to do a pressure test on the system. This will show exactly where the leak is coming from. At Jack Maxton Chevrolet the cost for this test would be $49.99 plus tax. Please let us know if you have any other questions or need to schedule an appointment for the pressure test. We need to know a little more about your vehicle to help answer this question. Rolly Heyder, Service Manager, is available to speak with you at 1-877-331-1628 ext. 2408.
      Thank you,

  143. I have a 2007 Chevy Uplander that we recently put remote start on. It was done professionally but now my service theft system light is on! Can I try anything myself to get it to go off or is it something that requires me to bring in for service?

    1. Hello,
We would highly suggest taking it back to where you had it installed. When installing the remote start the Technician has to cut into ignition wires and this could be tricky when trying to fix the Theft System Light. We hope this information helps and if you would like to schedule an appointment for the Jack Maxton Service Team to look at your vehicle you can reach Rolly Heyder, Service Manager, at 1-877-331-1628 ext. 2408.

      Best regards,

  144. Hello, I have a 2004 Chevy Cavalier. Debris on the highway hit my left front headlight and hood. The headlight has a huge crack down the middle and I have a dent in the hood. The bulb is gone. I was told I would have to have the headlight replaced entirely before I can put in a new bulb. Can you please give me an estimate on how much it will cost to replace the headlight?

    1. Arjumand, replacing the headlight capsule is probably what we would have to do, also. The Jack Maxton Service team would have to take a look at the headlight but an estimate price would be –

      $48 for labor + tax
      $20 Bulb + tax
$154.63 for Headlight Capsule + tax

Please let us know if you would like to schedule an appointment. You can reach Rolly Heyder, Service Manager, at 1-877-331-1628 ext. 2408.

      Thank you,

  145. How much (labor hours and parts) would it cost to replace the gasket between the transmission and engine of a 2006 Chevy Cobalt SS (2.4L non-supercharged engine). I have 196,000 miles on the car.

    1. Tim,
Thank you for the question. We are a little unclear if your vehicle is an automatic or a stick shift.
If the gasket you are talking about is the rear main seal it would be $800+ tax for an automatic and $1000+ tax if it’s a stick shift. We hope this information helps and if you would like to schedule an appointment for the Jack Maxton Service Team to look at your vehicle you can reach Rolly Heyder, Service Manager, at 1-877-331-1628 ext. 2408.

  146. I have a 2005 chevy malibu maxx ls and my fiance ran into my driver side mirror. He didny knock it off bit the bottom panel came loose, the mirror itsself can be picked up and moved around. It is still attached by the wires and you can see the spring in the bottom of the mirror. Is this an easy fix or do I have to replace the whole mirror?

    1. Natasha,
90% of the time the entire mirror assembly would need to be replaced. Its really hard to say for sure without seeing the vehicle. If you stop in the Jack Maxton Body Shop and ask for Brian or Dustin anytime Monday ā€“ Friday from 7am up to 4pm we would be able to give you an exact price. Please let us know if you would like to stop by or make an appointment: 614-410-6600.

  147. I have a 2004 silverado with a 5.3 engine I have a coolant leak somewhere on back of engine .. it only leaks after it sits for a while but leaves about a 2 foot puddle where should I look for the leak. Thanks in advance

    1. Alton,
Thank you for your question. There could be an assortment of places the leak is coming from. Without seeing the vehicle we anticipate the leak would be coming from either the heater hose, freeze out plug or a head gasket leak. We hope this information helps and if you would like to schedule an appointment for the Jack Maxton Service Team to look at your vehicle you can reach Rolly Heyder, Service Manager, at 1-877-331-1628 ext. 2408.

  148. my Chevy trailblazer doesn’t blow air to the front side ( face) it just blow it to the glass and the feet i changed the the heater control and still having the same problem

    1. Hello,
One of the issues could be the mode door sticking, causing it not to turn faces. The Jack Maxton Service Department would have to see the vehicle to diagnose it but, we hope this gets you pointed in the right direction.

You can reach Rolly Heyder, Service Manager, at 1-877-331-1628 ext. 2408.

      Thanks again,
      Jack Maxton Service Team

  149. Have a 2002 Chevy Malibu. The trans won’t shift unless you lift the throttle, also won’t pull a load, has a whistle when driving that goes up and down with engine rpm. If hold throttle steady it won’t shift and check engine light comes on until lift throttle then trans shift and light goes out.

    1. Richard,
Thank you for the question. The issue you are explaining could be caused by a sticking clutch solenoid. The Jack Maxton Service Department would have to run the codes on the Malibu to see if it has any to make sure. Let us know if you would like to set an appointment. You can reach Rolly Heyder, Service Manager, at 1-877-331-1628 ext. 2408.

      Thanks again,

  150. I have a 2005 Chevy Impala. This car has had gremlins since day one, and I’m the original owner. Within the last four months I’ve had to have the fuel vent solenoid & vapor canister replaced. My car will reek of gas fumes when I start it most mornings & leave it running for a little while. My car has 117,000 miles and has had no major problems. My mechanic thoroughly checked everything before coming to me with this diagnosis. I can understand how the problem occurred the first time, with me over-filling the gas tank. I have avoided that these last four months though. Do you have any idea what might cause these two parts to be going bad. Also, this last time, my fuel pressure regulator was replaced. Four months ago it was working fine when the other parts were replaced the first time.

    1. Jenny,
This is a tricky one! We suggest hooking your vehicle up to our scanner and smoker to see where the leak is coming from. Please let us know if you would like to make an appointment. You can reach Rolly Heyder, Service Manager, at 1-877-331-1628 ext. 2408. Thank you for the question and we hope this helps!

  151. My car was on empty and I just filled it up at BP. Now my check engine light is on and its not running good. It sounds and feels like it could stall. Any ideas?

      1. Karen,
There could be a couple things causing the issue. Sometimes if you let your gas tank empty, old gas could cause your car to run poorly. Until that filters through, your car could run rough. Also, it could be a fuel pump issue. We would be more than happy to look at it. Please let us know if you would like to set an appointment. 1-877-331-1628.

        Thank you,
        Jack Maxton Team

  152. I have a 2008 chevy cobalt. The engine light came on and the diagnostic test said it was a code P0121.throttle position sensor. Can a piece of this problem the throttle body break off and go into the engine and do damage to the motor? Can we keep driving the car/Also could it be the part around the intake manifold .Around the breather hose?

    1. Joe,
The throttle body cannot break off and go into the engine. It is very possible that it is just the throttle position sensor causing the problem. We would have to take a look at it to be 100% sure but, from what you have told us that is our best assumption. Let us know if you would like to make an appointment. Please give us a call at 1-877-331-1628 and speak with Rolly Heyder, Service Manager.

      Thank you,
      Jack Maxton Team

    1. Curtis,
Thank you for the question. There are a few things that could be wrong. We need to a block test but, there is a chance it’s a heater core issue, it may have an air pocket or a blown head gasket. You can reach us at 1-877-331-1628. Ask for Rolly Heyder, Service Manager.

      Thank you,
      Jack Maxton Team

  153. I changed the battery in my wife’s 2010 Equinox this weekend. Now “attempted theft” displays when I start the vehicle. Can I permanently clear this message? Thank you__ Nick

    1. Hello Nick,
Yes, you can clear the message. What you are going to do is pull the emergency brake and turn the key to start and turn back to run. Leave in the run position for about 10 minutes and the message should go away. If you would like, we can do this for you free of charge. We are located at 700 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. Worthington Oh. 43085. Please ask for Rolly Heyder, Service Manager, when you get here.

      Thanks,

  154. 05 Malibu Maxx LS heater blowing cold air! Coolant is full, all hoses hot except hose from coolant fill tank to radiator cold. Please help

    1. Hello Ken,

There could be a couple things causing the problem with the heater in your Malibu. In our opinion, one issue could be a clogged radiator and second could be a bad thermostat. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. If you would like to schedule an appt. please give us a call at 1-877-331-1628.

      Thanks,

  155. My son bought a car from your dealership and soon after started having a lot of transmission problems. After researching the car, we found out it has a ton of problems and he wasn’t made aware of that. My question is this, What would you charge to install a rebuilt transmission or what would you charge to repair/rebuild the transmission? It is a 2003 Pontiac Vibe manual 5speed. It isn’t running now because of this problem and he can’t even get to work and back.

  156. Apparently my 2010 Equinox has missed your Service Dept because it’s acting up again. You replaced the engine in April, and now the blower to the AC & heat is acting like its dying. When I start the car after sitting for a few hours, nothing blows out the vent for a solid 30 seconds to a minute. I can hear something under the hood attempting to go, but it doesn’t get any air moving for at least 30 seconds. I’ve turned the dials to see if it would start it quicker, with no success. The sound reminds me of something spinning and making noise until it reaches top speed.

Now if I run into a store and am gone like 30 minutes, it hasn’t seem to have a problem when I start up. Once it’s running, it seems fine. It’s got 62,000 some miles on it, (7,000 since the new engine).

Any idea what is going on? With it getting cold, it would be nice to have a working and reliable car.

    1. Emily,
We are so sorry to hear that you are having problems with your air conditioning. Although, we need to run diagnostics on your vehicle to determine the problem 100%, it does sound like the problem is happening in the Control Unit. Rolly Heyder, Service Manager, is the person you will be speaking to when calling in. He is familiar with your question and will be able to further guide you on the next steps. Thank you for the question and we hope to be talking to you soon. 614-885-5301 Ext. 2408.

  157. I have HHR 2008, I am trying to use 3M 08963 Fuel System Tune-Up Kit to clean the system. Now I could not locate throttle body where I could remove fresh air boot. Thanks!

    1. Hello,
The fresh air boot attaches to the bottom side of the air cleaner, it is clamped to the throttle body.
If you need additional information let us know!

      Thanks,
      Jack Maxton Team

    1. Hello Steve,
The EVAP vent solenoid is located underneath the vehicle by the gas tank. Please let us know if there is anything else we can help with!

      Sincerely,
      Jack Maxton Team

    1. Hello,
Thanks for the question! That should be located under the center console.
Let us know if there are any other questions we can answer for you!

  158. hi i was wondering that if my fuel gauge is not acting right will my msg center show that i have fill up the gas tank

    1. Hello Steve,
Depending on what kind of vehicle it is with the issue, the gas gauge in the msg. center usually reads empty then goes to full, bouncing around a lot. The sending unit in the gas tank is what reads the fuel level. It is quite possible that it needs replaces. If you would like to speak to Rolly Heyder, Service Manager, he is aware of the problem that you are having. He can guide you through some of the process. You can reach him at 1-877-331-1628 ext. 2408.

    1. Hello,
Typically, the chip does not break the key needs to be reprogrammed. We need a little more information to give you a price break down on getting a new fob (depending if you have no working keys). Mike, Parts Manager, is available to speak to you at 1-877-331-1628 ext. 2300. He has a few questions and then will be able to come up with an estimate.

      Thank you,

  159. I have a 2007 chevy impala and i think my transmission is going bad because when i turn it on from sitting all night it feels like its hard to get into 1st gear, then sometimes when im at a light and i go to take off its like my wheels are spinning but the car is not moving. Also i have a loud vibration in the rear of my car i heard this has to do with my rear brakes is that true?

    1. We would first suggest checking the transmission fluid to better determine the problem. Also, your back brakes would need to be looked at. It sounds as though it is a couple of things that is causing you trouble. Not all of it is caused by a problematic transmission. If you would like to give us a call, please contact us at 1-877-331-1628 ext. 2408. You can chat with Rolly Hyder, Service Manager. He is the person we discussed your car issues with.

      Thank you,

  160. How do I reset the rfa 2 battery low after changing battery… My key chain unlocked still won’t work… 2003 Yukon please help me

    1. Hello,
Thank you for your question. You may need to change the batteries in both sets of key fobs before they will work correctly. Also, you will have to sync them to your vehicle. If you would like to speak to Rolly Heyder, Service Manager, he is aware of the problem that you are having. He can guide you through some of the process. You can reach him at 1-877-331-1628 ext. 2408.

      Thank you!

    1. Hello!
The canister vent solenoid would be located underneath your vehicle towards the back, by the gas tank. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
      Thank you,
      Jack Maxton Team

  161. Can you give me a ball-park estimate of what it would cost to ge a new vapor canister and vent solenoid installed for my 2006 Chevy Malibu? I was quoted $512 and want to know if this is a decent price or if not, what a good repair price would be.

    Thanks,

    Karen

      1. Hello,

Thank you for that information. The work that you need done would be $450 plus tax. If we did the work, we would prefer to run our own diagnostic test on your vehicle. This would confirm the issues that you are having. The cost of the diagnostics would be $96. You do have the option not have us perform the diagnostics test. We could talk to you about that if you would like. Rolly Heyder, Service Manager at Jack Maxton, is who you can speak with at 1-877-331-1628 ext. 2408 for further information.

        Thank you!

  162. I have a 1999 Chevy 1500. The rear passenger turn signal does not turn on. I’ve replaced all of the bulbs and changed the turn signal assembly, it still does not work. All brake lights and reverse lights as expected. What could still be a problem, a ground? Also what would be an estimated cost for this work. I bought it from you guys about a year ago.

    Thanks

    1. Hello Geoff,
It sounds like the problem could be the circuit boards that the bulbs sit into. The contacts could break and it loses connection. The parts are $60.86 for each taillight – plus the cost of labor. If you would like us to take a look at it, you can call 1-877-331-1628 to schedule an appointment.

      Thank you for your question!

  163. 2001 chevy venture/3.4l engine, intermitant overheating. Possible dexcool/intake gasket problems
temp sensor working, cooling fans working, no check engine light.
How much to have the repair gasket set installed to solve this.

    1. Hi Tim,
With this problem being a little more complex, we would definitely like to run a diagnostics test before giving you an estimate online. The diagnostics test is $96 and this charge would be a credit towards your work if you choose to get your vehicle serviced at Jack Maxton Chevrolet. Please let us know if you would like to set up an appointment at 1-877-331-1628. Sorry, in this instance, we couldnā€™t answer your question with more clarity. Thank you and hope to speak with you soon.

  167. Have a Monte Carlo SS. I was wondering if I have a transmission problem because it still drives but I think it has trouble shifting. My rpm kept going up and down when I tried to hit the gas a little bit like if it was slipping. I did put transmission fluid but it still does it.

    1. Hello,
The problem could be a plugged catalytic converter. We need to hook your vehicle up to our scanner to check codes in the transmission. Rolly Heyder is the Service Manager that helped with your question. Heā€™s available at 1-877-331-1628 ext. 2408, or feel free to message us back. Hope this helps Rick!

  168. I have a 2007 Chevy Cobalt 2.2L Engine. The other day my engine light came on….P0496 Evaporation Emission System High Purge Flow. I tried tightening the gas cap but the light didnt go off. I know it could be a number of things….bad gas cap, solenoid, valve, etc….

Any idea what something like this would cost to fix (Approx price range)

    Thank you!

    1. Hello Ernie,
Thank you for contacting us with the question about your vehicle. Your Chevy Colbalt could require a vent solenoid for the emission system. If we perform a diagnostics test and see this is the issue, the cost to you would approximately be $200-$300. Rolly Heyder, Service Manager, is available to speak with you about this matter at 1-877-331-1628 ext. 2408. Let us know if you have any other questions!

  169. Hello, I have multiple things i would like to have fixed and would like to gather info. I have a 2002 Chevy Impala and I’ve been battling my breaks for it seems 2 years now. I have had repairs done at different places and the same results keep occurring. 1. The breaks squeak despite having new pads 2 times in 2 years. 2. The anti-lock system continues to malfunction (this was temperamental but is now triggered every time i drive with the anti-lock breaks activating while driving and eventually shutting down setting off my gauge.) I have taken my car in to replace that part fix this specifically and I’m still having issues. I have already spent roughly $3,000 over the last 2 years trying to fix these issues to no avail. There are 2 other minor items I would like to investigate. 3. My blinker sometimes gets stuck in the “on” position and does not blink. That is temperamental too. I have replaced the hazard light switch and it still occurs. 4. Can i have my key-less entry remote work again? The battery has been replaced though i think the remote is old and broke. Any information you can provide me with those 4 items would be great. Can they all be fixed? I have been enduring through these temperamental issues for a while and I would like to see if it is worth it to fix. The cars engine and shape is otherwise pretty good for being 10 years old with the miles it has.

    Thank you for your help!

    1. Hello Mazin,
Sorry to hear about the pesky problems that you are having with your Impala. We have some answers to your concerns that will help. 1. You may hear a squeak when braking due to the quality of the brake pads or rotors that you are using. The squeaking sound may be louder when it is raining. If this is the case, which we can make certain, there is no concern. 2. We need to scan the ABS system for codes to see why the light is coming on. There are few different issues that could cause this, down to the electronic brake control module. This module may have an internal short causing this to happen. 3. The turn signal could be a malfunction switch. 4. And last but not least, your remote can most likely be fixed; we need to run some diagnostics on it to see. Rolly Heyder is the Jack Maxton Technician that we spoke with, please feel free to message back or call him at 1-877-331-1628 ext. 2408.

      Thank you,
      Jack Maxton Team

  170. I have a 2007 Chevy Uplander LS, check engine light is on. Had it tested and it showed that I need a Canister Purge Valve. Problem is I don’t know how to find out if it has one port or two portsl Could you help me.

    1. Hello Darlene,
In order to answer your question Iā€™ll need a bit more information. For example, did the diagnostic test suggest that is was the wire connecting to the canister purge valve, or possibly the computer? These are factors when looking into what part to order for your vehicle. If you are not sure of that information, we could run a diagnostics test at the Jack Maxton Chevrolet Service Department and determine what the problem is. The test will cost you $96. You can call the service department at 1-877-331-1628 to schedule an appointment. Thank you for your question and let us know if there is anything else we can help you with.

      1. the tech at the auto supply house said the computer said it was the canister purge valve

      2. Hi Darlene,
We can certainly replace the part for you. In the scenario that all you need is the part and labor, with no diagnostic test done by Jack Maxton Chevrolet, the cost to you would be $91.40 plus tax. If we perform a diagnostics test and confirm the issue at our service center, we are able to give you a 12 month ā€“ 12,000 mile guarantee on the part we put on your vehicle.

        Thank you,
        Jack Maxton Team

    1. Hello Jayvee!
Unfortunately that would not work. The pluming is not right on the lines and they would not hook up correctly.

  171. i have a 2006 chev equinox. left the gas cap at the pump, i have a mass evap leak. put a new gas cap on. my question is how long do i need to drive to reset the light. mostly need to know if i must do anything in any specific order…..thanks, chuck d.

    1. Hi Chuck,
Once the vehicle checks and finds the cap on the Equinox two times the code will reset. Parameters for checking varyā€¦could take up to a week.

      Thank you,

  172. I just purchase a 2003 Landrover Freelander. It runs but it want go over 25mph. I believe there is safe light on, but not sure. It looks like there is oil in the water system. What could it be?
    Jeff

    1. Hello Jeff!
Thank you for using ā€œYour Auto Questions- Answeredā€. After speaking with one of our Service Managers, Rolly Heyder, he advised that the problem with your Landrover could be a plugged catalytic converter. This issue could cause your motor to go into reduced engine power mode. Rolly is available at 1-877-331-1628 ext. 2408 if you would like to speak with him about bringing your vehicle in.
      Thank you,
      Jack Maxton Chevrolet

  173. I have a 2004 cavalier we have put 3 fuel pumps on in 2 years ( the first 2 Bobb Suzuki put on then wanted too much money for the third even thou it had only been a couple of months my husband put the last one on after the macanic took the gas tank off before telling use it would be a custermer pay) it runs for a while then wont start I have heard that if you run below 1/4 tank of gas it will cause the pump to go out but I don’t let it go below 1/2 mostly because the gas gauge stopped working first the temp gauge stopped working then the speedometor now the gas gauge the fual pump we put on in Sept. it wouldn’t start 03/23/12 and still are unable to get it started also 3 of the windows quit working I am so frustated can you please tell me what it could be and how much it would cost if it can be fixed

    1. Hello Tammy,
We would be more than happy to help you with these questions. Just a few thingsā€¦we need to check your Cavalierā€™s fuel pressure and ignition to diagnose the primary problem. To check these it would cost you $96. The issue with the windows could be the main switch on the motor. The cost to diagnose the window issue will be $48. Please call us at 1-877-331-1628 and ask for Adam Mauk at ext 2382.
      Thank you,
      Jack Maxton Chevrolet

      1. so if I get my car towed in (because it will crank but not start…the ignition does stick sometimes)and I give you $96 and you check the fuel pressure and ignition and find a problem how much would that cost me? I’v been without my car for 6 days now and I don’t have a lot of money to keep putting in the da** thing ( I still owe money for) I really like/hate this car so I need some idea of how much money I’m going to have to beg and borrow to get it fixed I’m not so much worried about the windows so much right now I’m sure that would end up being a couple hundred per motor per window times 4 windows

      2. Tammy,
Going without a car is such an inconvenience and we hope to make this as easy as possible for you.
The $96 that we chatted about before is to diagnose the primary problem with your car not running. From there, we can talk to you about your car and service it accordingly. Without looking at you Cavalier first we would not be able to give you an exact cost to fix it. Butā€¦ you would have the peace-of-mind that your car is being diagnosed by professional technicians. If you would like to get your car serviced as soon as possible, you can call us today at 1-877-331-1628 and speak with Rolly Heyder. He is a fantastic Service Manager that has been at Jack Maxton Chevrolet for over 23 years, he will help you set an appointment and suggest a towing company.

        Thank you,
        Jack Maxton Chevrolet

      3. a mechanic wanted to charge me $800 to replace the fuel pump that was only a few month old and now about 6 month later the car is doing the same thing as before could it really be the fuel pump again and would the cost be about the same?

      4. Tammy,
We have not had the opportunity to diagnose your car yet. Without seeing your Cavalier we do not know if it is the fuel pump or ignition switch, etc. There are indeed fuses under your hood but they are color coded for the significance of what theyā€™re for. Please take note that we are giving you advice provided by GM Certified Technicians working at the Jack Maxton Chevrolet Service Department, the same GM Certified Technicians that would be working on your vehicle. Please let us know if you would like us look at your car formally.
        Thank you,
        Jack Maxton Chevrolet

      5. I just called this number you gave me (1-877-361-1628 and speak with Rolly Heyder) and got a message that it’s no longer in service WTH? do you have a direct number to the service department for the location on harrisburg pike columbus ohio?

    2. Tammy I have a 93 cavalier and much all cavaliers are the same. I will tell you for a start. The 3 silver fuses under the dash needs to be replaced. They control believe it or not the speedometer, gauges, windows, etc. I don’t know why, but this happened to my cavalier. If you had you fuel pump change 3 times then I recommend the coil pack and the ignition module check, that contols the amount of fuel into car and it makes sure that the car runs at its optimal performance. I love my cavalier. It is a Z24.
      Jeff
      ps I hope this helps!

      1. I don’t see silver fuses under the dash I looked both driver and passenger side… I need to get my car on the road so if you can tell me where else to look …

  174. Question: I only have 33000 miles on my Corvette which I bought new from Jack Mxton in 2002. I want to keep it long term as a collector. I keep it covered in a dry, attached cgarage.

I have been told that brake fluid is “hydroscopic” (may absorb water). Is there a “number of years” after which I should have brake fluid changed? Or would I just be wasting money on unnecessary service?

Similar question for the tranny fluid (automatic). I am nowhere near the 100K miles the manual suggests servicing. But should I do after some number of years?

Any other “time sensitive” service suggested (I do change oil and radiator fluid regularly, even with low usage…) ?

    thanks! dan

    1. Hello Dan,
After speaking with a Corvette specialist, he made these suggestions for storing your Corvette.

      Brake Fluid
If you use DOT 3 ā€“ Change every 5 years
If you use DOT 4 ā€“ Change every 2 years
      *Automatic trans use DOT 3

      Coolant
Every 5 years or 150,000 miles

      Transmission Fluid
      Every 50,000 miles

      Oil
      Every year

If you are interested in having your Corvette serviced at Jack Maxton Chevrolet please call 1-877-331-1628 ext 2382 to schedule an appointment.

      Thank you,
      Jack Maxton

  176. I have a 2004 Trailblazer and the passenger side view mirror is broken. How much would it cost to replace it?

    1. Hello Jessica,
The labor for fixing your mirror would be $96.There are many options for the actual mirror unit. If you could email me your VIN Number I can get the specifics for your Trailblazer.
      Please email me at htodd@jackmaxton.com

  177. I have a 2010 Chevy Equinox and up until about a week and half ago I was able to use the USB port in my car to play music from my iPhone 4 through my radio in my car. I have been playing it through my radio since I got the car, so I’m concerned as to why it stopped working suddenly. The USB port and cord will charge the iPhone, but won’t play through the radio.

Thinking it might be the cord, I’ve tried different cords and it will charge, but not play. Then I borrowed my brother’s iPod and connected it to the same cord that will charge my iPhone, and almost instantly, it came through on my radio.

Why suddenly would it stop playing the iPhone, but still play iPods?? My phone is up-to-date with software updates (and the last one was in January, so it’s played through the radio with the update), so I’m just really confused as to why it would suddenly stop working.

Is this something that can be fixed? Or is it a compatibility issue suddenly between Chevys and iPhones?

    1. Hello Emily,
That sounds so bizarre! It may be a compatibility issue, but that is usually not a problem that ā€œpopsā€ up. It could also be a problem with your iTunes. You may need your cell phone store to back-up the information on your iPhone and do a factory reset. If they determine it is a problem with your car port, we would be happy to look at it. You can call 1-877-331-1628 to schedule an appointment.
      Hope this helps,
      Jack Maxton Chevrolet

    2. Emily,
The Service Department also suggested if you wanted to stop in we could plug your iPhone (with your cord) into a 2010 Equinox to see if it is your phone or port.

  178. my tires and rims were stolen off of my 2012 suburban and we live in Michigan. how do i get these replaced ASAP

    1. Hello Alan,
Sorry to hear about your tires being stolen.
There are a couple of options,
      1. We can sell you new tires and ship them to you.
      2. Call the nearest GM dealer with your VIN #. They would be able to replace them for you.
If you are interested in us shipping them to you, please call 1-877-331-1628 and speak with Rolly Heyder. He can also direct you to your nearest GM dealer if you decide to go with that option.
Thank you and best of luck!

  179. Hi. I wanted to ask a question about my 99 chevy malibu v6 3.1. I had diagnostic done and it popped up with the codes p1665 & p1676. Once we found out the codes I had a vac box installed into the car but the engine light still remained on. I’ve started to notice that since this didn’t fix the problem the engine starts shutting down while the electrical parts such as the radio & dash stay on…..does this mean I need to have the fuel pump changed???? The last mechanic recommended replacing this. If so, how much does this cost??, total??

  180. 2006 Chevy Colorado 2.8L check engine light on, mis-firing. Replaced plugs and it ran fine for a day, then began mis-firing again. How much would it cost me to have you diagnose this problem?

    1. Hello Roger,
You would need to take your vehicle to a service department and let them hook it up to a computer. They would have to identify why the light was on to reset it. If you would like to speak with our service department please call 1-877-331-1628.

  182. We purchased (from you) a 2004 Chevy Silverado, at this time it has 78,000 miles on it. We have the problem of the speedometer not registering properly or it stops working all together. Can you give me an estimate of the total cost of repairing this problem?

    1. Hello Janet,
Thank you for using ā€œYour Auto Questions Answered!ā€
I spoke with a technician and he gave me an estimate for your Silverado. For labor, parts and tax the total would be around $425.00. The technician that I spoke with is Steve Pratt, please feel free to respond with any questions or call Steve at 1-877-331-1628 Ext: 2810.
      Thank you again,

  183. I have an issue with my 08 Chevy Equinox LT, when I accelerate, it is cutting out. I went online and it said that it could be because of bad spark plug wires. Is this something GM is covering?

    1. Hi Drew!
If it’s bad spark plug wires, it is covered by GM. You can call us at 1-877-331-1628 to make an appt to get your Equinox looked at.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
      Thank you,

  184. I have a 2009 Saturn Outlook and have been bringing it to you all for regular maintenance. I’m turning 50,000 miles soon and would like to know what type of maintenance I need to do and about how much something like that costs.

    1. Hello Wendy,
There is maintenance that will need to be done to your Saturn at 50,000 miles.
Below is a list of what the inspection includes and the rough estimate.
      – Inspect the fuel system
      – Inspect the exhaust system
      -Replace engine air cleaner filter
      -Change automatic transmission fluid
-If all-wheel-drive, change transfer case fluid – (severe service) $139.95 added
-Visually check for leaks or damage
      -Oil and oil filter change
      -Rotate tires
      -Inspect brakes
      -Check all other fluids
      -Inspect suspension and steering components
-Inspect restraint system components and engine cooling system
With out all-wheel-drive cost the estimate would be $290.00
Please let us know if you have any questions.
      Thank you!

  185. Hi.

I wanted to know if someone could tell be what code p1665 & p1676 would mean if I already had the evap box installed on a 99 chevy malibu? It’s a v6 & 3.1 engine? Also, how much is your diagnostic?

    1. Hello Jennifer,
Thank you for using the “Your Auto Question-Answered!”
The P1665 code is a vent solenoid and the P1676 is a purge solenoid. Our diagnostic test is $89.00, please let us know if you would like to make an appointment to come in. Our number is 877-331-1628.

      1. Thanks for the info.

I have another question. From your experience, could you tell me what part would have to be replaced or fixed to get rid of these 2 codes altogether?

  186. I have a 2000 Silverado pickup with 125,000 miles. I’m original owner and have never changed automatic transmission oil. Local Firestone mechanic says take it to dealership. In August when towing small (3500 lb) travel trailer transmission oil heated up and it started shifting rough until we cooled it back down. Can you please advise?
    Hugh

    1. Hello Hugh,
Typically, we like to give you an answer that would give you a direction of what may be wrong with your truck. In this instance, there are a lot of variables that are involved with over heating. It needs a diagnostics test done. Our diagnostic test is $89, if you would like us to take a look please call 1-877-331-1628 we would be happy to help.
      Thank you,
      Jack Maxton

  187. I have a 2005 Chevy 2500 diesel PU. It broke down north of Columbus. Does your service center work on diesels?

  188. WHAT IS RFA 2 BATTERY LOW? I REPLACED BATTERY ON 2003 1500 IN JULY 2011. IT COMES ON WHEN I START TRUCK UP ONLY.

    1. Hey Randy!
I talked to the service department and they said if you replaced the battery in one key fob you have to replace it in the second one. This should take care of the light that comes on when you start your truck.
      Thank you,
      Jack Maxton

  189. I bought a 2007 GMC Yukon Denali in January 2010 from Jack Maxton. Iam wondering if you can answer the question for me Does my vehicle have struts?

I was hearing a noice in the front of the vehicle and had it take in for service. (Sorry live 110 or so miles away) I am being told by a GMC certified dealership that my struts need to be replaced. I did send and email to the Jack Maxton site 07/28/2011 concerning this matter but no one has contacted me back.

Anyway I am being told and the dealership here as well can get no where with the extended warranty company (Western General) that I purchased from Jack Maxton at time of purchase that I have no struts at all on my vehicle just shock absorbers? (not sure how this could be thought both worked together) Anyway my question is does my vehicle have struts and if so what can Jack Maxton do to help me to get the warranty company that they reccomended to me at time of purchase to pay for the struts repair that is in my policy.

    Thank you for your time.

      1. Lisa,
I got an email that Rolly answered you back.
“Lisa-your Yukon does have shocks, not struts…if they are wore out, extended warranty does not pay for them–call me if you need more help-thank you–614 848 0335
        Rolly Heyder
        Jack Maxton Service Department”
*Please let me know if you have any other questions.
        Jack Maxton

  190. Thanks for your reply.
The dealer is not 50 miles away BUT we got 2 weeks of run around with them Do Not what to go back . We have had good service with you in the past. Would like you to look at it.
Sorry we had to go there in the frist place. Hope we can have you service it for us.
    Thanks,Thomas Crist

    1. Thomas we would love to work on your car! Call us as soon as you can, anyone in service would be more than happy to help you make an appointment and get your transmission looked at. You can call at 1-877-331-1628. Thank you Thomas! See you soon!

  191. Hi , just had a rebuilt transmission put in my truck by a chevrolet dealer a cross town they said it has a warranty for 3years and/or 100,000 miles at all GM service center. If true Ithink it is slipping form 2 to 3 gears would like to know if it can be fixed with out taking it out or do I need to take back to them?
    Thank
    Thomas Crist

    1. Hey Thomas!
I just talked to Rolly in service; he said if you are with in 50 miles of the Chevrolet dealer go back there and have them look at it. If not you can come here and we would be more then happy to look at it. We just have no idea if we will have to take it out or not. Either way your warrenty is valid at all Chevy dealers. Let me know if you have any questions, you can reach Rolly @ 1-877-331-1628.

  192. Hi, I have a 2005 Chevy Equinox and I’m having issues with the A/C and the radiator fans. Once the car warms up, the A/C will periodically start blowing hot air for a few minutes and then resume blowing cold air. Also, the radiator fans are constantly spinning on high once the car warms up. The engine temp on the gauge only shows it going to 1/3 of the way up, so the engine isn’t getting too hot.

In terms of the radiator fan issue, I switched the high and low relays, but I still had the same problem. I heard from someone that this issue could be caused by the cycling switch. Any advice?

    Thanks,

    Alan

      1. Hello Again,
After talking to service we came up with a couple of conclusions. Possibly a low charge for A/C or cycling switch, they would have to run a test to pin point the problem. Hope that this helps Alan, if you would like to talk to service the number is 1-877-331-1628 ext 2382.

  193. I bought a new 2010 V6 LT Camaro, which was delivered in Oct 2009. I was out driving today and all of a sudden I get this high pitch nice noise along with what sounds like a rattle. I only hear these sounds when the vehicle is in motion. What could possibly be the problem and would it be safe to drive.

    1. Hi Anthony,
It sounds like a hub bearing that could be making the noise. If it is this, it is safe to drive. We highly recommend making an appointment though to get it checked out. You can call 1-877-331-1628 if you would like to schedule a time.
      Thanks Anthony!

  194. How much for an oil change on a Saab? Can you do struts and brakes as well? If so, could you please give me an estimate?

    Thanks,
    Scott

    1. If you can email me at htodd@jackmaxton.com with the vin number and year of your Saab we can see if we have the tools needed to do the work. The oil change would be around $32.00. The Tech said there are certain years of the Saab where the Chevrolet tools will work.
      Talk to you soon Scott,
      Jack Maxton

    1. We can do light maintenance on Saab’s at our Quick Service Plus like oil changes, tire rotations, etc. I hope that this helps with servicing your car.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

  195. I have a 2006 Malibu 4-door sedan, LT, 6-cyl., with a 3.5 liter engine. Over a year ago the car ran low on gas and the low fuel light came on. Ever since then, I’ve been having problems with the low fuel light coming on before I can even pull out of the gas station after filling up. Then, the service engine light comes on. This happens much more frequently now. I have tried changing the gas cap but that did not help. I don’t have the codes, but after a friend hooked up the computer to it, he thinks it is the fuel sending unit. Listening to the ding from the low fuel light is driving me crazy, my remote start won’t work when the service engine light is on, and I’m sick of tracking my mileage worrying about running out of gas. The gas gauge either reads full or empty now also. I’ve seen many complaints from research on the internet for this problem as well. Is there anything GM is doing about it? What exactly is the problem? How much will it cost to get fixed? How long will I be without my car?

    1. Hi Jessica,
I have some answers for you. The Tech that I talked to said that it sounds like your fuel level sensor. This is about a 1/2 a day of work and costs around $400. We are not aware of GM doing a recall on this problem. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
      Thank you,
      Jack Maxton

  196. My chevy Aveo’s alarm goes off all the time for no reason. I’ve researched the problem online and it says that it is common in the aveo and the hood actuator is the problem and needs repair.

Could you please tell me how much this would typically cost?

    Thank you for your help.

    1. Hi Jackie,
After speaking to a Tech, he said that he has seen this issue before. Is your car still under warranty? If not, the cost for the part and labor would be around $200; he said that it is typically a latch on the hood. There are appointments open in the morning if you wanted to come in.
      Thank you!
      Jack Maxton

  197. how do you remove the short piece of slined shaft out of the pass side of auto transaxle in a 02 cavalier, i replaced the tranny and the new one does not have it. i want to re-use it

    1. I just talked to one of our Tech’s and he said to hold the main shaft and tap the short piece off. It should come right off; you may want to use a brass drift. Please note that in doing this we hold no responsibilities for the out come. If you would like to call or stop in we can get a better look. I hope that this helps Dale.
      Thank you,
      Jack Maxton

      1. thanks i got it, hey another question, where is the fuse for the pcm on a 02 cavalier?

      2. It should be located in the right rear corner of the engine compartment. Hope everything goes smoothly with your Cavalier projects!
        Thank you,
        Jack Maxton

    1. Hey Tim!
The refrigerant service port is under the motor on the passenger side. But do be careful it is a high pressure system. If there are any other questions please feel free to ask.
      Thank you,

  198. 2001 Monte carlo SS, was running fine , stopped had oil change and went ahead and had transmission fluid flush.. Now all at once shifts hard into 2nd and 3rd gear and starts to get a loud vibration sound and all at once now the check engine light comes on. i took it back to valvoline oil change they said it cant be anything they did. the fluid is ok. im so lost. im broke and now I have a car im affraid to drive any ideas. My dad thinks transmissions cost so much that i should buy a new car.. I dunno what to do. Im so mad i cant think straight. id still have a running car if i didnt have my trans fluid changed. Can anyone work with me on how or what this problem maybe. or whatever opinions would be helpful, thanks.

    1. Hey Will,
I just talked to a Tech, he said unfortunately the flush and oil change have nothing to do with what is going on in your car. That most likely your transmission is skipping 2nd and 3rd gear. He also said this is why your check engine light is on. Not %100 sure with out looking at the car, but it was a coincidence that it happened at the same time as your service to the car. The Techā€™s name is Clyde and he said to call him anytime and you two can talk more about this. 1-877-331-1628

  199. My steering wheel on my 2009 Traverse seems to be making a friction sound I have not heard before. I scheduled an appt for next week but I am going out of town with the vehicle and don’t want to run into difficulty. Should I be concerned?

    1. Hi Dan!
There is nothing to worry about.
As long as your Traverse is steering and turning normally, you are go on your trip.
Have a great time and we will see you in next week.
      Thank you!
      Jack Maxton

    1. Hello Jennifer,
I got the codes checked out for you; the p0135 is a bank 1 sensor 1 (heater) and the p0141 is a bank 1 sensor2 (O2 sensor). The c1225 and c1247 are 2 that are different then our readings.
Hope that this helps you out.
      Thank you,
      Jack Maxton

      1. Thanks, so much. This does help. So… this means I definitely need to have my heater & O2 sensor replaced??

      2. Hello,
They can take a look at your heater to see if it needs replaced totally, but when the 02 sensor code is shown that usually means they need replaced.
        Thanks Jennifer!

  201. Hi,

I need to have my car serviced but I needed to know if I could receive an estimate on how much it would cost to replace the EVAP Canister Vent Control Solenoid on a 99 Chevy Malibu 3.1 V6.

    1. Hello Jennifer,
I got the estimate for you and here is how it breaks down.
      The Part is $164.00
      The Labor is $97.90
      The Diagnostic is 89.00.
You do have the option of not getting the diagnostic,
      $350.90 (before tax) with
      $261.90 (before tax) with out
Thank you so much for your question. Please feel free to call us at 614.885.5301; we would be happy to schedule an appointment for you.

      1. Thanks for the estimate. I’ve already had a diagnostic done and the engine code that appeared was P1665 and P1676.

      2. Hey Jennifer!
I talked to the body shop about the codes P1665 and P1676, they said that is the fuel output. They included that every place has a certain way of doing a diagnostic test; if you would like to get one done here. Though, we could look at your car without doing another diagnostic. Please let us know if there is anything we can do. Thank you Jennifer!

  202. Hi, I have a 2008 z06. I just purchased it with 24,000 miles on it. It seems to crank more than I’d expect. Sometimes it fires right up, sometimes it cranks for 2-3 seconds before it starts. Any thoughts or suggestions?
    Thanks, John

    1. Hello John,
I just talked to one of our seasoned mechanics, he said that for the high performance zo6 motor that a crank of 2-3 seconds is something that is normal. If the car was sitting for a couple of days and not started this may happen also. He also said as long as the check engine light is not on, you are ok.
Thank you John for questions, feel free to ask any others!

  203. I recently purchased a 1986 Chevy Suburban with a 6.2L diesel. I’m very mechanically inclined, but I’ve never owned a diesel and I have no idea what I’ve gotten myself into. The truck is in great shape other than a few problems that have come up since I bought it. The first problem is an oil leak. Normally I wouldn’t care, but it’s about a quart or more per week. You can tell everywhere I’ve parked in Columbus for the last 2 months. I’m guessing oil pan gasket and rear main seal but its hard to tell because everything under neath is covered. Any ideas if this is a common thing with these motors? If so I don’t have the tools to take care of it and I need a shop. Is Jack Maxton a good place to bring it or should I go to a diesel specific shop? Also I have no idea how long this would take for a repair or your hourly rate. Could I get a guess as to what this might cost. I’m a poor college student. Thanks so much for your help I really appreciate it.

    1. Hello Blake,
I was talking to a mechanic that works here about the problem that you are having with your 1986 Chevy Suburban. He said that he does not know of any common problems for that type of engine. That would be something that we would want to take a look at. We do have two diesel techs that could take a look that have over 30 years of experience behind them. Let us know if you want to come in we will get you an appointment. Thank you for your question Blake I hope we are able to help you!

  204. Hi. I just purchased a barely used 2010 Camaro 2LT. It has all of the options I was looking for except for the black hood and tail stripes which are an add-on option for the 2LT. Is it possible to bring the car in to have the stripes painted on at the dealership? If not, do you have a particular company that you use or would recommend? Thanks, in advance, for your help!

    1. Hi Chris:

We would love to take care of this for you! Our Body Shop does the paint striping on the Camaros. Their office is located at 6601 Huntley Road, Columbus, OH 43229 (less than a mile from our main store on 161), and you can call them for all the details at 614-410-6600.

      Thanks,

  205. Hello, I have a 2000 Saturn Sl2. When I start is up , it has a tendency to putter until it clear`s and When I go to take off, like when it Snowed this past week it acted like was not going that fast , and I know I was spinning my wheels at the same time it started putter with out a lot of power . I have to have a new muffler system put on, because the brakes have worn out and broke and I have a hole. I think the hole might be before the catalytic converter .

    1. Hi Woody,

If you have a hole in your exhaust system, it affects the back pressure that is on your engine. Any time your back pressure is adversely affected your car will not run properly. You may experience sputtering, loss of power, etc. Any time you have a hole in your exhaust system, you should definitely get it fixed as soon as possible.

      Hope this helps!

      1. Now all I have to do is find a decent place to have it all replaced or do it my self except for the hanger that would be a hard one.

        Thanks

      2. Well…since we are officially an authorized Saturn service provider, we can replace your muffler for you if you would like. Just give us a call.

  206. I recently purchased a 2007 Trailblazer SS AWD and the rear passenger side wheel well is approx 1.5″ higher from top of tire to wheel well compared to the rear driver side. It appears it is a common problem with the air suspension … what is the cause and fix to this problem?

    Thanks

    1. Hi Wes,

I see you have already talked to a service advisor about this issue. Air suspensions are definitely tricky and without being able to have your vehicle up on a lift and really being able to
examine what the problem is, it is impossible to give a quick fix solution. Please let us know if you decide you would like to bring it in and we will be happy to take a look at it for you.

      Sincerely,

  207. I have a 2003 Chevrolete Venture Lux addition . How can I remove jamed CDs in the CD player ? 1 of my kids must of put to many in or they just got jamed . I am want to trade it in for different auto but I would like my CD,s . It acts like it is going to aject but then shows a error .

    Thank You, Woody

    1. Hi Woody,

Oh no! The infamous CD jam. I wish I had an easy fix for this one. Unfortunately, I don’t. If the CD eject button doesn’t budge (for whatever reason), the only thing you really can do is take your CD player out of the dash and take it apart šŸ˜¦ Sticking another object in the CD slot wont help and may even cause other components inside the CD player to break.

We recommend that you take your car to a car audio electronics place (like Columbus Car Audio) where they can take it apart safely for you and remove the jam.

Also-If your looking to trade in your vehicle, I would be happy to get you a quote for your trade in. Let us know what your looking for and how we can help!

      Sincerely,

  208. Hi – We recently purchased a 2005 Cadillac CTS 3.6L base model with 34k miles. It seems the transmission doesn’t like to downshift unless we push the accelerator down real hard. It’s like it’s “studdering”. Is this normal for a CTS?

    1. Hi Lee,

It certainly doesn’t sound normal from what you have described. Are any dash lights coming on?
Cadillac’s are very complicated and technical (much like a Volvo or Audi). To be honest, we really don’t have an answer for what might be causing the problem without seriously taking a look at it.

We recommend making an appointment for it as soon as possible!

  209. i have a 2004 silverado 2500hd with about 93000 miles recently ive noticed a tapping noise when I first start the truck up after about 2-3 min idle time it goes away. Is this just in need of a valve adjustment or does something need replaced?

    1. Hi Jennifer,

When a vehicle starts accumulating miles it is common to hear noises when first starting the engine. Most of the noises that go away after a few minutes of idle are not considered a problem. In particular, the 2004 Silverado HD does not have “skirted” pistons, so when you start it up, they tend to move around a bit until they have warmed up.

However, just to be certain there is no underlying problem, you should probably leave it overnight that way a mechanic can listen to it in the morning and make certain there is nothing else going on.

Hope this helps! Please give us a call if you have any further questions.

      Sincerely,

      Jack Maxton Service Team

  210. We have a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer that was purchased from you in 2009. Recently we started having problems with the gas gage not registering the fuel level, it says that the fuel level is low, but have a full tank, plus the check engine light will come on and off.. Not sure what may be the problem. Will this damage anything else. Could you please advise us on what to do!

    1. Hi Crystal,

It sounds like you probably have a Fuel Level Sensor that has gone out. No, it will not damage anything else on your vehicle, but you could run out of gas. A Fuel Level Sensor is typically $400-450 to fix (because it is inside the tank and is very difficult to get to). A diagnostic Code from the Check Engine Light will confirm for sure. If you would like to bring it in, we can check that code for you and/or schedule an appointment to get that sensor replaced.

Please let us know what we can do to help!

      Sincerely,

      Maxton Service Team

      1. I have been having the same problem with my 06 Envoy; however, the fuel used “counter” still works. That is how I figure out how much gas I have. My question is whether the fuel level sensor is something that would be covered under my extended warranty added when i bought it. Thanks!

      2. Hi Afton:

9 times out of 10, your extended warranty should cover your fuel level sensor. (It is not covered by the powertrain warranty.) If you want to discuss it more or schedule an appointment, give me a call at 877-331-1628 and we can work it out.

        Thanks,

  211. I have a 2009 Equinox Sport. I recently installed a locking gas cap and now my “Check Engine” light is on. I have double checked the manufacturers website (Stant) to make sure I have the correct cap and I am sure the cap is on tight. Any ideas what I can do?

    1. Hi Don,

Well, there could be a couple things going on. It could be a vent solenoid or EVAP canister triggering the code. It is also possible that even though the new cap is on tightly – it may not be sealing properly. An incorrect pressure reading could throw off a code.

It is difficult to determine without running some diagnostics. We recommend that you bring your Equinox in for an appointment. We can do something called a “Smoke Test Cycle” or even command the solenoid. We can get to the root of what’s causing the problem.

Let us know if you want to bring it in.

      Sincerely,

      Maxton Service Team

  212. Hi-I have a turbo engine and I was told that after 90,000 miles they start to wear out. My car now has almost 100k and I was wondering…are there any signs that I can look for to warn me an advance that my turbo’s might be going out?

    1. Hi Suzy,

Turbo charged engines can start to wear out around 100,000 miles as with many other parts, but not necessarily. It really depends on how well the vehicle has been taken care of and how frequently it has been brought in for regular service check ups.
So, how can you tell if there is a potential problem? The number one sign to watch out for is loss of power (and not the electrical kind). When you stomp on the gas does your car feel sluggish? Is it responding the way it normally does-or is there a loss of umpphh? Another thing you can look for is oil around the turbo charger. Often times the seal goes bad and it will start leaking oil. If it you find oil there, definitely bring it in to your service provider and have it fixed as soon as possible.

      Hope this helps!

      Maxton Service Team
